Qventas TMAU Testing Trimethylaminuria (TMAU), also known as fish odour syndrome or fish malodour syndrome is a rare metabolic disorder where the body loses the ability to properly breakdown timethylamine (TMA) found in certain foods into timethylamine oxide (TMAO). Trimethylamine then builds up and is released in the person's sweat, urine, and breath, giving off a strong fishy odor. Currently few labs test for TMAU phenotype (urine) testing for the body odor and halitosis community. Qventas Lab is determined to provide a reliable source of TMAU testing at a affordable price to prove how many people have some issue with TMAU, with a result that local testing units will add TMAU to their list of metabolism tests.
What will be tested for a TMAU phenotype (urine) testing:
Trimethylamine level
Trimethylamine-n-oxide level
Creatinine
Qventas Pricing: $100 per sample for ESI-MS/MS analysis of trimethylamine/trimethylamine oxide/creatinine
